The Dodgers name part 2

As yet I still have not got to the bottom of the Dodgers name. I have been looking at copies of the 8th Army News but as yet have not found Lady Astor's denial. Then I had an idea! What if it was part of a German propaganda coup. We know they could do it, for example after the 'Battle of the Bulge' Montgomery made a speech (although not exactly good) that was intercepted by the Germans, a short piece added, then re-broadcast. It was heard by Bradley and it was this that prompted his verbal attack on Monty. One of the German's favourite themes for their propaganda was trying to split and cause mistrust between British and US forces. So it is feasible that this is what happened here?
